About the Project:
“Synthetic computer-generated imagery is not an inferior representation of our reality, but a realistic representation of a different reality” – Lev Manovich, 2001.
15 Minutes of Mars 15 Minutes of Mars is an experimental satire exploring mass media, technology, and a society immersed in the digital realm. I completed the film in 2019 as part of my final degree project.
Set within a mock TV show in a futuristic world where technology dominates every aspect of life, the story follows Tana, a participant chosen to experience Earth’s natural environment for the first time. Her journey, a contrast between artificiality and authenticity, unfolds throughout the film.
I directed and edited the film using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, collaborating with a wide team - including a producer, writer, cinematographer, sound editor, composer, and set designer. Together, we built two sets entirely from scratch: a TV studio and a spaceship, filming primarily in a controlled studio environment.
This project was a space for uninhibited creativity and experimentation. From quirky performances to vibrant lighting and eccentric editing choices, we embraced an expressive, playful approach—pushing the boundaries of style and technique with the tools available to us. It was both a learning experience and a celebration of creative freedom.
